>NOTD: Mint and Roses & 200th Post!

>Hello everyone! This is my 200th post =) I thought this special post deserved a special manicure, so I took my time.
When I first saw this manicure at Nails by Rachel Blog, I went kinda crazy because they looked soo awesome to me! I’ve wanted to make my own version ever since. I was unsure how to paint roses that look realistic from a distance, but thank God, my boyfriend is an artist =) He taught me how to paint a realistic looking little rose and together we practiced a bit. Of course these roses are pretty amateur and I couldn’t do them as nicely as he showed me, plus the topcoat blended everything together, but I think they suffice for now =)

Here is everything I used.
From Left to Right: Essie Mint Candy Apple for the ring finger. Essie Pretty Edgy and Orly Enchanted Forest for the leaves. China Glaze Sugar High and China Glaze Heli-Yum for the roses. And finally, Rimmel London Rose Libertine for the base of all other nails. And round pink glitter for the… well, glitter =)

Thumb detail:

I did a reverse moon on my thumb. I think it looks interesting! =) I wish I used another base color for my thumb, though, because the rose is not as visible as I hoped.

Herkese merhaba =) Bu benim 200. yazım, bu yüzden özel bir manikür yapayım dedim.
Bu manikürü Nails by Rachel blogunda ilk gördüğümde resmen ağzım açık kaldı, çok çok beğendim. Tam benim tarzım olduğunu düşündüm ve o günden beri de yapmak istiyordum. Ancak belli bir mesafeden bakılığında gerçekçi görünmeleri için gülleri nasıl yapmam gerektiğini bilmiyordum. Neyse ki çok şanslıyım, çünkü erkek arkadaşım ressam =) Bana, küçük ama gerçekçi bir gülün nasıl yapılması gerektiğini gösterdi ve birlikte biraz çalıştık. Tabi benim güllerim biraz amatör ve onun bana gösterdiği kadar güzel yapamadım, ve cila da detayları biraz birbirine karıştırdı, ama bence sonuç kötü olmadı. =)

Yüzük parmağımda Essie Mint Candy Apple, yapraklar için Essie Pretty Edgy ve Orly Enchanted Forest, güller için China Glaze Sugar High ve China Glaze Heli-Yum, diğer bütün tırnaklar için de Rimmel London Rose Libertine. Son olarak, Viva La Nails’den gelen pembe pullar.
Baş parmağımda en altta başka bir oje kullansaydım gül daha çok belli olacaktı, ama neyse. Farklı bir versiyonunu yaparım belki daha sonra, bu biraz aceleye geldi =)

>NOTD: Mint Icing

> Stupid title, I know, but I wanted it to fit in the theme, along with Banana Cream.

This is Inglot #969, and it drove me nuts. Application was horrible. It looks like the consistency is great, the brush is fine, too, but I guess the problems are caused by the funny pearl finish and horrible drying time. I had serious dragging, even the second time when I started all over, without any base coat. I had to apply 4 coats to make everything smooth, and the cuticles looked all jagged. Some serious clean-up was needed afterwards. I mean, I’m moderately skilled at polishing my nails thanks to this much practise, and if I have trouble, an occasional nail polisher will definitely have some.

I must say I don’t like the tonal pearl finish. It makes the polish dull and milky, and takes away the shine quite a bit. It was not so obvious in the pale yellow I showed you last, but I really wish this one was a cream. The color can be best described as Magic Mint, but a little more muted.

I added some konad on top, using konad white and plate m79. I personally think that Inglot #968 owns this one big time. I don’t recommend it, as there are many beautiful mint green polishes out there, with better formula.

Bugün sıra Inglot #969’da. Sürümü çok çok kötü bir ojeydi, beni deli ettiğini söyleyebilirim. Yapısı ne çok akışkan, ne çok yoğun ama bir şekilde hiç güzel sürülmüyor. Sanırım sorun ojenin geç kurumasıyla ve inci bitişli olmasıyla alakalı. Ojeyi iki kez baştan sürdüm, ikincisinde altına baz kullanmadığım halde tırnak diplerimde açılmalar oldu. Doğru düzgün olması için 4 kat sürmek zorunda kaldım. Sonrasında da temizleyip düzeltmekle uğraştım bir o kadar da. Eğer ben bu kadar oje sürme tecrübesiyle sürerken zorlandıysam, ara sıra süren birinin çok daha fazla zorlanacağını düşünüyorum.
Bu arada Inglot ojelerinin hep inci yapıda olmasını sevmiyorum. Bence ojeye derinlik vermek yerine ışıltısını azaltıyor ve süt gibi, donuk bir görünüm veriyor. İlk gösterdiğim sarı çok açık renk olduğu için bir sıkıntı yaratmıyordu, fakat bu oje için iyi bir seçim değil. Bence krem yapıda olması gerekirdi.
Sonra üzerine beyaz konad ojesi ile m79 diskindeki deseni uyguladım. Bence Inglot #968 bu ojeye on basar. Daha güzel nane yeşili bulmak istiyorsanız, Essie’ye bakın, neredeyse aynı fiyat. Üstelik formülü Inglot’dan çok daha iyi.

Hello guys =) Thanks to Marjo, I could get my hands on three beautiful green polishes by Avon. I feel like it’s Earth Day all over again! =)))

L-R: Green With Envy, Peppermint Leaf and Limeade.
Now, things are a bit sketchy here. In Europe, Avon released a light green and dark green, so did they in the US. But the European colors, Peppermint Leaf and Green With Envy are different than their corresponding US colors, Jade and Olive Green. Green With Envy is a blackboard green, almost black, but Olive Green is a dupe for RBL Orbis Non Sufficit. Peppermint Green is like a green version of Misa Dirty Sexy Money, whereas Jade is lighter and more green based, closer to Chanel Jade. Of course I’d need all four colors to compare them side by side, but this is what I can see from the online pictures.
Anyway, today I have Avon Peppermint Leaf on my nails to show you.

Peppermint Leaf is a gorgeous polish. It’s muted, yet surprisingly vivid. Think about Misa Dirty Sexy Money, but a green version instead of teal. Green is much more dominant in this polish, it’s like a dark jade, but lighter than OPI Jade is the New Black. It was very hard to photograph correctly, it looks lighter and brighter on the pictures, but it’s actually darker IRL. I think it falls somewhere between Mint and Medium Sea Green. If you want, I can do some comparisons with other polishes.

I finally did some stamping. I used an opaque mint franken as the stamping polish, and plate m79. Shown with another pair of earrings I own =) I actually have colors that are exact match for this earring, too, but I thought they were fun to post together like this.
Peppermint Leaf is a dream polish for my green-loving self. Me approves.

İşin garip tarafı burada başlıyor. Avon hem Avrupa’da, hem Amerika’da ikişer tane yeşil krem oje çıkardı. Sözde kendileri aynı fakat isimleri değişik olan bu ojeler aslında farklı. Resimlerden gördüğüm kadarıyla, Amerika’daki iki oje de Avrupa’lı muadillerinden daha açık ve daha yeşil tonluyken, buradakiler daha koyu ve daha mavi tonu içeriyor. Keşke dört oje de elimde olsaydı ve karşılaştırma yapabilseydim, ama internetten gördüğüm kadarıyla bunun böyle olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
Herneyse, bugün sizlere Peppermint Leaf isimli ojeyi göstereceğim.
Peppermint Leaf, muhteşem bir oje. Öncelikle soluk renkli bir oje, ama içindeki yeşil canlı duruyor. Tarif etmesi zor. Koyu yeşim rengi diyebilirim renk için. Resimlerde de tam olarak anlaşılmadı, gerçek hayatta biraz daha koyu ve biraz daha soluk bir yeşil, ama resimlerde daha açık renki ve daha parlak gözüküyor. Eğer isterseniz, karşılaştırma resimleri de koyabilirim.
Son olarak üzerine nane yeşili oje ve m79 no’lu diski kullanarak puantiye deseni yaptım, ve çok sevdiğim küpelerimle beraber resmini çektim =) Aslında küpelerin aynı renklerinde yapmak vardı aklımda, ama kısmet bu kombinasyonaymış. =)

>NOTD: Mint Freshness

>Yesterday I got this lovely navy blue by Alix Avien. (For my Turkish readers, this color is #163.) I think it’s very close to China Glaze Calypso Blue, based on the pictures I have seen. This polish has a jelly-like consistency but wears like a creme, has a nice brush, is opaque in one coat; although I did two out of habit. I absolutely love Alix Avien cremes & jellies, I think Alix Avien and Pastel are the best Turkish polish brands, followed closely by Golden Rose. By the way I’m planning to add Turkish brand names to my labels, to make browsing easier. When I have time, I will go through my older posts, too.
The stamping color is frankened by me, I used a small amount of Konad Special Polish in Green, which I dropped into a bottle of regular, thickened white creme polish. I mixed them well and achieved an opaque mint green. I used the leafy image from m75 to represent mint leaves:

The saturation setting of the camera was left on “high”, which is why it looks like I have jaundice =)

Dün Alix Avien’den bu muhteşem lacivert ojeyi aldım, numarası #163. Resimlerden gördüğüm kadarıyla bu renk China Glaze Calypso Blue’ya çok benziyor. Ojenin yapısı jel gibi olsa da, tırnakta krem oje gibi duruyor, fırçası çok güzel ve tek katta opak oluyor; ama ben alışkanlıktan iki kat sürdüm. Alix Avien’in krem ve jel ojelerini çok seviyorum, bence Alix Avien ve Pastel en güzel oje yapan Türk markaları, hemen arkalarından da Golden Rose takip ediyor. Bu arada etiketlere Türk markalarını da eklemeye karar verdim, markalara göre arayan olursa diye. Zamanım olduğunda eski yazılarıma da ekleyeceğim.
Damga yaptığım rengi ben kendim karıştırdım, bir miktar yeşil konad ojesini katılaşmış eski beyaz ojenin içine damlattım. İyice çalkaladığımda opak bir nane yeşili elde ettim. M75 diskindeki yaprak desenini nane olarak düşündüm.
Ellerimin bu kadar sarı gözükmesinin sebebi, kameranın doygunluk ayarını yüksekte unutmuş olmam =)

>Hey everyone =) First of all, I want to thank everyone who took their time and voted for their favorite girly manicure. I appreciate all the contribution. Your opinion matters!
Anyway, today I have a manicure which is suitable for both spring and summer. I was thinking of doing a leopard print manicure with colorful spots. For that, I used a mint green franken made of several leftover green frankens and white. I frankened using frankens, that must be a new level, LOL. The spots are all frankens, too, except for China Glaze Lemon Fizz, which is the yellow, and the occasional white. For the stamping I used plate m57 and black special polish. I filled in the spots using an old nail art brush.

I’d like to share my tips and tricks about how to prevent smudging the konad special polishes with a regular topcoat. Would you guys be interested?

Bu arada bugün hem ilkbahar, hem yaz için uygun bir manikürle karşınızdayım. Bir süredir renkli benekleri olan leopar desenli bir manikür yapmayı düşünüyordum. Bunun için kendi karıştırdığım nane yeşili bir oje kullandım. Tabi bu kendi karıştırdığım ojeyi zamanında yine kendi karıştırdığım ojelerden yapmam biraz garip oldu =) Benekler için de genelde pastel renkte oje krizi geçirirken yaptığım ojeleri kullandım, sadece sarı olan China Glaze Lemon Fizz, bir de bildiğimiz beyaz oje kullandım. Desen için m57 diskini ve siyah konad ojesini kullandım. Benekleri ince bir fırça kullanarak yaptım.
Bu arada sıradaki yazımda, o kadar uğraşıp konadla desen yaptıktan sonra o desenleri mahvetmeme yöntemlerini anlatan birkaç püf noktasından bahsedeceğim =)

>NOTD: Mint Green

>I showed this franken before, but I wanted to wear it today anyway. It’s a very light mint green, more on the blue side, very similar to Mint Candy Apple. I love the color, but the quality is bad, it’s very streaky, and this one is 4 coats. Not because it’s not opaque, because it didn’t want to even out.
I thought I could apply polish well, until I saw Lacquerized. She applies flawlessly. How can she maintain her cuticles so perfectly? I’m stunned, such gorgeous nails and application! My next goal: Make cuticles perfect and practise, till you apply better.

It looks too bright on the second pic, the flash one is color accurate.
I also want to draw your attention to my friend Elizabeth’s blog, Lacquered Lizard. She started a nail blog only yesterday, and her nails are beautiful, take a look!

>From The Vault: Mint Green Butterflies

>This one comes from the vault. I had been lemming for a mint green polish the whole summer, and finally I had decided to franken my own. I started with a green polish and added sky blue drop by drop. I poured the excess green polish in an unused bottle of white polish, and forgot about it. When I found the bottle a month later, a pleasant surprise was waiting for me. It was a gorgeous light mint green shade, similar to the promo pictures of Essie Mint Candy Apple. I used it as base coat and stamped it with my Peppermint Patti franken, and m36.

In real life they are very minty.
The picture below doesn’t do the colors justice. They look closer to the bottle pictures.

I absolutely loved this Konadicure, and wore it for 5 days, until it started to crack. Light pastel shades always crack on me, especially when they have thick consistency. And cracked polish sucks, unless it’s intended to be worn as crackle-polish! =)
