>Review: Essie Spring 2011

>Today I have four polishes to show from the Essie Spring 2011 French Affair Collection. Honestly, when I first saw the collection, none of the colors really drew my interest. I thought they were a bit boring, recycled, plain, etc. But as time passed, I started to grow fond of the colors, the way they looked together, the theme, etc. And when I saw Nice Is Nice two weeks ago, oh my God, I knew I was sold at that moment.
I only cared for four of the six colors, I left out Sand Tropez and Kisses & Bisses. Sand Tropez felt too close to Playa Del Platinum, and I don’t really like sheer toppers like Kisses & Bisses. So in the end I was provided with four colors to review.

First is Coat Azure, the pop color of the collection. Essie tends to include a pop color like Pretty Edgy, Going Incognito, Mesmerize etc. along with more traditional shades. Coat Azure is a dusty blue with a very subtle, pearl-like shimmer to it. I really love it, it’s really calming, very springy and looks gorgeous. Like all swatches of the collection, I did 3 coats, although this one was good with 2. The consistency was great. Colorwise, I would call this one Tufts Blue.

I realized I don’t have many medium blues in my stash, so I compared this with Essie Lapis of Luxury.
Lapis of Luxury is a cornflower blue jelly, contains no shimmer and is warmer & lighter than Coat Azure.

Nice Is Nice is my favorite from this collection. It has a certain warmness that is not too much, it’s a very flattering polish, perfect for spring. You can get away with 2 coats, but 3 coats was perfection. The color can be described as Mauve.

I compared Nice Is Nice with other lilacs from my stash. Eyeko Lilac Polish doesn’t really belong, it’s darker than a pastel lilac. Essie Lilacism is a cooler version of Nice Is Nice, contains way too much blue to be a dupe. China Glaze Light As Air is much lighter & paler.

French Affair is a cool toned, pastel pink. I love mod pinks and this one had a nice application and unique look about it. First I thought I must have a dupe of this somewhere, but looks like I don’t. Pictured is 3 coats. I would call this Rich Brilliant Lavender.

I compared French Affair with Flor Mar Supershine #29 and China Glaze Something Sweet. Something Sweet is the lighter version of French Affair. #29 doesn’t contain as much blue, it looks neutral compared to the other two pinks.

Topless And Barefoot is an interesting shade. It’s a warm toned nude polish, yet it’s muted, like a very very light warm taupe. It’s very edgy once on the nail. Imagine a lighter version of Ecru. Like the rest, this was 3 coats.

I don’t have many similar polishes, so I compared this with her Essie sisters. Body Language is much more grey toned and is cooler. Miss Matched is a grey leaning, very pale pink. Just to give you an idea where T&B falls.

Altogether, it’s a lovely spring collection. I love how the polishes look so well together & how they match the French theme, they remind me of macarons =) The mini set includes the exact same colors I reviewed, you can get that one too if you don’t want to spend on full bottles.

Bugün sizlere Essie Spring 2011 French Affair Koleksiyonu’ndan dört oje tanıtacağım. Dürüst olmak gerekirse koleksiyonun ilk tanıtımları yapılırken şöyle bir bakmıştım da, neredeyse hiçbir oje ilgimi çekmemişti. Renklerin sıkıcı, daha önce yapılmış, özelliksiz renkler olduğunu düşünmüştüm. Ama aradan zaman geçtikçe gözüm alışmaya başladı, ilkbahar temasıyla çok uyumlu olduklarını düşünmeye başladım, bazı denemek istedim. İki hafta önce Nice Is Nice isimli ojeyi gözümle gördüğüm anda ise pes etmiştim bile =)
Yine de altı renkten sadece dört tanesini tercih ettim. Sand Tropez renk olarak Playa Del Platinum’a çok benziyordu, ve Kisses & Bisses tarzı ojeleri pek beğenmiyorum, bu yüzden onları bıraktım. Tanıtmam için dört renk verildi, şimdi onları göstereceğim.
Soldan sağa: Coat Azure, Nice Is Nice, French Affair, Topless & Barefoot.
Öncelikle Coat Azure, koleksiyonun öne çıkan rengi. Essie genellikle her koleksiyonda tek bir öne çıkan renk bulunduruyor. Pretty Edgy, Going Incognito, Mesmerize bunlardan birkaç tanesi. Diğer renkler ise daha alışıldık tarzda renkler oluyor. Coat Azure, solgun, orta koyulukta bir mavi. İnci gibi gözüken, aynı tonlarda mavi ışıltıya sahip. Bu renge bayıldım, deniz gibi gözüküyor, çok sakin ve rahatlatıcı bir renk. İlkbahar için çok güzel bir seçim olmuş. Bu koleksiyondaki tüm renkleri 3’er kat sürdüm, ama bunu 2 katla da opak hale getirebilirsiniz. Sürümü ise çok kolaydı.
Buna benzer tarzda renklerim pek yok, sanırım tercih etmiyorum. Essie Lapis of Luxury ile kıyaslarsak Lapis of Luxury’nin daha mora yakın ve açık bir renk olduğunu, jel yapıda olduğunu ve ışıltı içermediğini görebilirsiniz.
Nice Is Nice, bu koleksiyondaki favorim. Çok tatlı, sıcak tonda bir lila, bahar çiçekleri gibi. 2 katla opak olsa da 3 katta mükemmel oluyor, bu yüzden 3 kat sürdüm.
Nice Is Nice diğer lila ojelerle kıyaslandığında; Eyeko Lilac Polish daha koyu renk, Essie Lilacism daha soğuk tonda ve China Glaze Light As Air çok daha açık ve soluk olarak kendini belli ediyor.
French Affair soğuk tonlarda, pastel bir pembe. Bu tarz pembeleri çok seviyorum. Bu ojenin aynısının bende olduğunu düşünmüştüm, ama yokmuş. 3 kat sürdüm.
French Affair’i Flor Mar Supershine #29 ve China Glaze Something Sweet ile kıyasladığım zaman, Something Sweet’in daha açık renk olduğunu ve #29’un daha sıcak tonda olduğunu görüyorum.
Son olarak Topless And Barefoot ilginç bir oje. Sıcak tonlarda, ten rengi bir oje, ama aynı zamanda rengi canlı değil, soluk. 3 kat sürdüğümde tamamen opak oldu. Tırnakta çok şık duruyor. İddialı renkler sevmeyenlere tavsiye ederim.
Benim buna benzeyen ojem pek yok. Sanırım kolay kolay opak olmadığı için bu tarz renkler, tercih etmemişim. Ben de Essie Body Language ve Miss Matched ile kıyasladım. Body language daha soğuk ve griye çalıyor. Miss Matched ise çok çok açık, grimsi soluk bir pembe. Yaklaşık olarak araya bir yere denk geliyor Topless & Barefoot.
Genel olarak çok çok beğendiğim bir ilkbahar koleksiyonu oldu bu. Fransa temasıyla ise çok iyi gitmiş. Ojeler bana parfe, makaron gibi yiyecekleri anımsattı resmen =) Bu arada mini setin içinde bu tanıttığım renkler var, eğer tam boy almak istemiyorsanız o seti de tercih edebilirsiniz. >NOTD: Black Swan

>Have you watched Black Swan? I watched it yesterday, and oh my God, it was amazing… I haven’t liked a movie this much for a while now, I was blown away by the beauty and terrified of it at the same time. I found it very inspiring, that’s why I decided to do a Black Swan manicure today.

I used Zoya Sarah on my thumb, then drew the swan with acrylic paint. I have black polish on the middle, stamped with feathers from m77. All other nails are Essie Body Language, stamped with black feathers and splattered with blood. I never knew splattering was such hard work! I had to mix various reds, dilute the mix with polish thinner, then dip a small pipe into the mix and blow through it till I get some realistic looking splatter.
I tried to protect the feathered nails from flyaway red polish, but they got some in the end anyway. I decided to keep it like that =) If you’ve already watch the movie, you will understand! =)

Maybe I’ll do another Black Swan inspired manicure soon! =)

Natalie Portman’ın Black Swan’ını izlediniz mi? Ben dün izledim, inanılmazdı… Uzun zamandır bir filmi bu kadar beğenmemiştim, hem filmin güzelliğinden dolayı kendimi kaybettim, hem de rahatsız oldum ve korktum. Bence çok ilham verici bir filmdi, ben de bu yüzden bugün bir Black Swan manikürü yapmaya karar verdim.
Baş parmağımda Zoya Sarah var, üzerine siyah ve kırmızı akrilik boyayla kuğu çizdim. Orta parmağımda siyah oje üstüne beyazla damgalanmış tüyler var, m77 diskinden. Diğer tüm tırnaklarımda Essie Body Language var, üzerinde siyah tüyler ve sıçramış kanlar ile. Kan sıçratmanın beni bir saate yakın uğraştıracağını hiç tahmin etmezdim… Önce birkaç farklı kırmızıyı üst üste damlattım, üzerine incelsin diye tiner döktüm, ince plastik bir boruyu karışıma daldırıp diğer ucundan üfledim, ta ki gerçekçi bir kan sıçrama efekti elde edene kadar. Tabi bu esnada oje damlaları sağa sola uçuşuyor, aman dikkat =) Üzerinde tüy olan tırnaklarımı her ne kadar korumaya çalışsam da, onlara da biraz kan geldi, ben de böyle bırakmaya karar verdim. Filmi izleyin, anlayacaksınız =)
Belki Black Swan ile ilgili bir manikür daha yaparım, kim bilir? =)

>NOTD: Pseudo Lace Nails

>When I first saw this lace manicure at Beutopia, I was amazed how simple it was to recreate a lace look that doesn’t involve actual lace =) She used a nude polish, and two konad images layered on it, the fishnet image from plate m57 and the lace image from m71.
For this manicure I used 2 coats of a pinkish nude polish by Woo, a Turkish brand. Then I stamped the images from m71 and m57 on top of each other, in black.

I think this will look great over grey, red and taupe =)

Bu tül manikürünü ilk gördüğüm zaman, gerçek tül kullanmadan bu kadar basit ve dahice bir biçimde tül görüntüsü verebildiği için Beutopia‘ya hayran oldum =) Basitçe anlatmak gerekirse, ten rengi bir oje üzerine siyah kullanarak m57’deki file desenini ve m71’deki tülümsü deseni uygulamış.
Ben de iki kat Woo #666 üzerine m71 ve m57 desenlerini konad’ın siyah ojesiyle damgaladım.
Bence siyah, gri ve kahverengi üzerine de çok şık durabilir =)
Şimdiden herkese Mutlu Yıllar! Belki yarın güncelleyemem, eğer görüşemezsek güzel vakit geçirmenizi dilerim şimdiden =) Umarım 2011 size mutluluk, sağlık ve şans getirir =)

>NOTD: Miu Miu

>Tell me, who is not in love with these shoes? I personally can’t picture myself wearing them, but that doesn’t change the fact I need them in my life =D

I’m talking about the Miu Miu Swallow Pumps. The Swallow pattern is so lovely, and since I won’t be owning the shoes, I thought of drawing the pattern on my nails.
I started with a coat of Eyeko Petite Polish, to give the moon a bare look. Then I applied Essie Miss Matched to the upper part of the nail, leaving the moon blank. Essie Miss Matched is from Essie Summer 2010 Collection, and in my opinion, it didn’t get the love it deserved. It’s a beautiful, pale, dusty pink; which quickly becomes opaque.
I covered the moon with tear-shaped, clear rhinestones. Then I painted the swallows with a tiny brush and black acrylic paint. Finished with topcoat.

I know it doesn’t show on first two pictures, but the moons are actually bare, not pink. It shows a bit better on the last picture.

Allahaşkına, bu ayakkabılara aşık olmamak mümkün mü? O kadar güzeller ki, asla giymeyecek olsam bile istiyorum. Bu kadınların ayakkabı aşkı çok feci birşey =)
Miu Miu kırlangıç desenli ayakkabılardan bahsediyorum. Miu Miu’nun bu sene herşeyde kullandığı kırlangıç deseni çok güzel değil mi? Ben de ayakkabıya sahip olamayacağıma göre, bari tırnaklarıma çizeyim dedim.
Önce tırnaklarımın alt kısımlarını boş bırakacağım için, bir kat Eyeko Petite Polish sürdüm. Sonra üst kısımlara opak olana kadar Essie Miss Matched sürdüm. Essie Miss Matched, Essie’nin 2010 Yaz koleksiyonundan, ve bence hakettiği kadar ilgi görmemiş bir oje. Ben hiç aklımda yokken tırnağımın ucunda denedim ve almaya karar verdim; çok tatlı, hem uçuk hem soluk bir pembe. Üstelik jel yapıda olmasına rağmen çabuk opak oluyor.
Tırnağın alt kısmını mekik şeklindeki taşlarla kapladıktan sona, kırlangıçları ince bir fırça yardımıyla, siyah akrilik boyayla boyadım. Son olarak cila sürdüm.
Biliyorum ilk iki resimde pek belli olmuyor ama, tırnak dipleriyle tırnağın geri kalanı farklı renk. Son resimde daha iyi anlaşılıyor.
Umarım Miu Miu tırnaklarım hoşunuza gitmiştir! =)

>Today’s mani was inspired by this one. She has done a lovely combination with nude, pink and salmon. I made my own version, using Golden Rose Paris #32 (index), Golden Rose Care & Strong #182 (thumb & pinky), Essie Van D’Go (ring) and China Glaze Spellbound (middle). I used the same colors on my right hand, too, only in different order. Left thumbnail was stamped in white using the ribbon design from m59. Left ring and right middle nails were stamped in white using the polka dot design from bm19.

Not exactly “all pink”. There is silver and orange and lilac and peach, but the cremes all lean towards pink (Van D’Go is actually pink in the bottle, only turns peach after applying topcoat) and I think that they look nice together.

Bugünün manikürü için buradan esinlendim. Benim versiyonumda, soldan sağa Golden Rose Care & Strong #182, Essie Van D’Go, China Glaze Spellbound ve Golden Rose Paris #32 var. Başparmağımdaki desen m59 diskinden, yüzük parmağımdaki ise bm19 diskinden. Sağ elimde de aynı renkleri sırayı değiştirerek kullandım.
Renklerin hiçbiri tam olarak pembe olmasa bile, hepsi pembeye dönük renkler. Mesela lila aslında pembeye dönük, Van D’Go ise zaten şişede pembe iken, cila sürünce şeftali rengine dönüşüyor. Bence birarada güzel duruyorlar =)

>From The Vault: The Polish Every Turkish Girl Knows About

>I don’t know if there’s such a famous shade in the US, but almost every girl in my country, if interested in nail polish or not, knows about this shade. It’s very, very popular and it’s the top selling polish in Turkey, I believe.
Flor Mar #319 is an off-white, sheer polish, designed to be used as a French manicure base. But it easily becomes opaque in 3 coats. It looks great with many skintones, and provides a neat, clean, freshly manicured look. We also call this color “Raki White” here. (Raki is the traditional Turkish drink. For more info, click here.)

This color is a life saver. It’s professional, it can be used if you don’t know what to put on for some occasion, it can be used as a French base. It’s one shade that should always be kept in one’s purse. =)

ABD’de böylesine meşhur, herkesin bildiği bir renk var mı bilmiyorum ama, burada oje süren sürmeyen her kızın bildiği renk herhalde budur. Hatta Türkiye’de en çok satılan oje olduğunu tahmin ediyorum, mağazalarda raflar dolusu stoklandığını gördükçe.
Flor Mar #319, kırık beyaz, saydam yapılı bir oje. Aslında Fransız manikürlerinin favorisi olsa da, üç katta kolaylıkla opak oluyor. Birçok tende harika duruyor bu oje ve tırnağı temiz, bakımlı, yeni manikür yapılmış gibi gösteriyor. Aynı zamanda “Rakı Beyazı” diye de geçiyor.
Bu oje tam bir kurtarıcı. Özel bir yere mi gideceksin? Ne süreceğine mi karar veremedin? Tırnakların berbat durumda mı? İş görüşmen mi var? Sür ve çık. Bu oje makyaj çantasına atılıp her yere taşınması gereken ojelerden.

>NOTD: Mannequin Hands

>I was never able to find a polish which truly matched my skintone, to be able to create the Mannequin look. (For more info on Mannequin Hands, see here.) I have a weird complexion, I’m pale, I have yellow undertones, but my blood vessels look blue under my skin. I guess I must be a neutral, as I can pull off both warms and cools. But it was incredibly hard to find a neutral polish that matches my skintone, so I gave up a while ago.

I got this polish by Flor Mar because I thought it could be a dupe for MAC In The Buff. I tried In The Buff on myself, but I didn’t think that it was very flattering. Flor Mar #344 caught my eye because it was a sandy nude with strong greenish yellow undertone. I thought it would be a cheap alternative, so I got it, even though I wasn’t very impressed with In The Buff.
Well, my polish eye deceived me because on the nails, it was the perfect match for my pale skin with yellow undertones.

I added some star dazzlings from Viva La Nails. Don’t they remind you of starfish on a beach?

Bu güne kadar ten rengime tam olarak uyan bir oje bulamamıştım. Burada bahsedilen manken elleri (kastedilen vitrin mankeni tabi.) görüntüsünü elde edemedim bu yüzden. Ten rengim biraz garip. Açık renkliyim, sarı alt tonlara sahibim ama damarlarım mavi gözüküyor. Bu da beni nötr yapıyor galiba, çünkü sıcak renkler de, soğuk renkler de garip durmuyor tırnaklarımda.
Flor Mar’dan #344 no’lu ojeyi almamın sebebi, MAC’in In The Buff isimli ojesinin ucuz bir alternatifi olduğunu düşünmemdi. In The Buff’u pek beğenmesem de, ucuza bir benzerini almaktan zarar gelmez diye düşündüm. Ama bu oje beni şaşırttı, çünkü tırnağıma sürdüğümde ten rengimle neredeyse birebir örtüştüğünü gördüm. Ayrıca In The Buff kadar yeşilimsi değilmiş, gözüm beni yanılttı.
Son olarak Viva La Nails’in gönderdiği yıldız şeklindeki süsleri kullandım. Bana plajdaki deniz yıldızlarını hatırlatıyorlar.

>Review: Eyeko Nail Polishes – Petite Polish

>My Eyeko Review continues with Eyeko Petite Polish.

Petite Polish is a sheer pink, specially made for French manicures and sheer lovers. I used two coats, and it gave my nails a nice pinkish blush. This color is perfect for neat French nails. I didn’t have a nice pink French manicure base like this one, so no comparison pictures this time. Although I didn’t try it out, I think this might be opaque in 3 or 4 coats.

I did a basic French manicure using Petite Polish and white. I used Nailene Bedazzled Super Star decals on my rings and thumbs. I love how neat and clean my nails look! I guess I should do French more often 😉

Petite Polish is really nice if you want a blushing pink as a French base, or if you are a sheer pink/nude lover. I can’t say I’m a sheer lover, but I think this polish makes the nails look chic and elegant. I must say I like this more than OPI Bubble Bath =) Although it’s not a unique polish, it’s a very nice basic =)

Hi everyone =) A short while ago Eyeko Cosmetics contacted me and offered to send 3 of their newest polishes for me to try out. So yesterday I received Nude Polish, Lilac Polish and Vintage Polish along with the cutest postcard ever =) Today I tried them all on, and I must say I’m impressed with the formula. All three polishes have a formula between jelly and creme, and they all have nice brushes, so they worked well for me. Without further ado, here are the bottle pics and swatches:

Nude Polish is a pretty nude color, leaning to peach, and with a very subtle shimmer. It looks closest to Deep Peach. I loved how clean my nails looked while wearing it. The formula was decent, sheer on the first coat but evened itself out on the second. I used 3 coats for the opacity I wanted.

Lilac Polish is a lilac creme, a bit lighter than the photo suggests, and it’s a medium lilac, leaning only slightly to the warm side. It can be described as Wisteria. This one was sans shimmer, and only took me 2 coats to be opaque. I own many lilacs, but no dupe of this color.

Vintage Polish was my favorite of the bunch. The color is a bit brighter in real life, but still has a dusty quality to itself. Eyeko describes this as a jade, but to me it has more blue than jade green. The closest color description would be Aquamarine, although Vintage Polish is a bit more toned down. This is a beautiful color, it’s refreshing and springy but also vintage at the same time, as the name suggests. It took me 2 coats to be opaque, but I did 3.
Finally, I’m wearing Vintage Polish with designs from m76 in konad pastel lilac.

>From The Vault: MAC Light Affair

>Hi guys =) The Slytherin manicure is still holding well, without any tipwear or chipping. Although I noticed that jellies tend to go transparent on the tips, as if they shrink, they don’t look bad and I can live with it. I didn’t want to let a gorgeous dark green jelly go so easily, thus I have a manicure from the vault to show you today.
It’s MAC’s Light Affair. I couldn’t believe how quickly it sold out here, I ordered the last bottle from another MAC store in Istanbul via phone, and they sent it to the nearest MAC counter for me. Light Affair is a gorgeous light mushroom/taupe color, with a hint of purplish pink. It’s a beautiful color, I haven’t seen anything like it. The application was quite streaky, though it was nice for MAC standards. I experienced bubbling and uneven application, but I finally got the hang of it.

Excuse the weird lighting, it was nighttime and the camera didn’t want to photograph well, so this is the only decent picture I’ve got.
