>Yesterday I got this lovely navy blue by Alix Avien. (For my Turkish readers, this color is #163.) I think it’s very close to China Glaze Calypso Blue, based on the pictures I have seen. This polish has a jelly-like consistency but wears like a creme, has a nice brush, is opaque in one coat; although I did two out of habit. I absolutely love Alix Avien cremes & jellies, I think Alix Avien and Pastel are the best Turkish polish brands, followed closely by Golden Rose. By the way I’m planning to add Turkish brand names to my labels, to make browsing easier. When I have time, I will go through my older posts, too.
The stamping color is frankened by me, I used a small amount of Konad Special Polish in Green, which I dropped into a bottle of regular, thickened white creme polish. I mixed them well and achieved an opaque mint green. I used the leafy image from m75 to represent mint leaves:

The saturation setting of the camera was left on “high”, which is why it looks like I have jaundice =)
I hope you’re not having a dripping-wet summer =)

>A week ago I ordered my sample pack from VivaLaNails.co.uk. They offer free sample packs for beauty/nail art blogs and channels, and shipping is also free. The order was processed incredibly fast, I got the package within 4 days.
My package consisted of stickers, water decals, crushed shells, rhinestones, glitters, pearls and dazzlings.

(Crushed shells are not pictured here)

Today I tried some of the products and did a fun manicure. I used pink star dazzlings, dark blue rhinestones and butterfly stickers.

I used Pastel #23 (Pastel is a Turkish brand) on all fingers, except ring fingers, which I painted with Rimmel Your Majesty. Then I stamped on top of the blue with Your Majesty and the halftone image from plate m60. I added some pink star dazzlings randomly, and applied butterfly stickers and dark blue rhinestones on ring fingers.

I really like the variety and quality of the products. The only thing that bothered me is that when applying topcoat over dazzlings, their color bleeds out. And without topcoat they get caught by everything. My solution was adding topcoat very quickly, just like over Konad.
I definitely want to order various rhinestones, pearls and stickers from their site in the future. Although I love dazzlings, I don’t think they’re easy to manage. Their round and hexagonal glitters are beautiful, too, and yet to be shown in the second part of this review.

Baz olarak Pastel #23 sürdüm, sadece yüzük parmaklarımın tırnağında Rimmel Your Majesty kullandım.

>Hello everyone =) First of all, thank you everyone for the tags & awards! I’ve been lazy to update my “Tags” page… *hangs head in shame* I promise that I’ll do that soon, and thank you again for all the nice awards you honor me =)
Today’s nails were very simple in the beginning, I just applied 2 coats of dark blue shimmery polish, and a coat of China Glaze Matte Magic on top. I love the velvety look of this one. ❤

But then hours had passed and I just felt the urge to do some konad on top! I tried to stamp with konad special polish in pastel violet, but it didn’t work well with matte, so I applied a glossy top coat on top, and then stamped the lacey design from plate m79 randomly. The pastel violet looks like a light grey on top of the navy, I like it very much =)

Oh, before I forget to mention: The blue polish from yesterday stained my nails really badly, so I recommend the winner to use a trusty base coat underneath! I had smurf nails for the first time in my life! =D

>I have seen this idea somewhere, but I just can’t remember where. It could be a blog or flickr, maybe both! =D If the idea belongs to someone you know, please notify me so that I can credit her. Update: Found it!
I actually wanted to give one of my old Inglot polishes another chance. It’s this beautiful, rich blue/purple duochrome microglitter in the bottle, but sadly it doesn’t transfer on the nails. I used 4 coats, but all I got was a generic muted dark blue with barely visible blue shimmer.
I decided to amp it up a bit by sponging China Glaze Ruby Pumps on the bottom, and then green flakies by Inglot on top of Ruby Pumps.

Because my topcoat has gone bad, again, the thing just wouldn’t dry properly. So I stamped with m36 in silver to cover the dents:

Sorry for the upside-down butterflies. (Again!) I always do the konad so that it’s upright when I look at my nails. I also used the small side of the stamper, that’s why some parts of the small butterfly are missing. The image wouldn’t fit, which I realized after transferring the images to my computer.

Giveaway details will follow in the upcoming days!

>Hi guys! I’m finally free! Yaaaay! Sleepless days and nights of hard work are finally over. Phew! Now I can attend to my konad stuff, and post regularly again =)
Jeanette from The Swatchaholic helped me to get my hands on some Essence and some P2 stuff. She is amazing! Thank you, Jeanette!

Here are all 3 polishes I ordered, and a fourth one, gift from Jeanette =)

P2 Electric (gift) and Dangerous

P2 Gorgeous and Elegant

Essence rhinestone sets! Yaay! =D

Finally, here is a recent manicure, Claire’s petroleum blue jelly with konad s09 and China Glaze DV8 for the stamping. The base color is beautiful, it’s a very dark teal, on the blue side, and it’s 4 coats for opacity. DV8 stamped subtle, but I like it =)

Oh, and this is my second attempt at cleaning the cuticles with a brush =) I got three paint brushes, one very tiny and two larger ones, and I’m amazed how they work =) Still need to practise to make it perfect, though. I’ll post pictures soon!

>Today I decided to give Meteor Shower one more chance. Well, although it’s a stunning color, I can’t say the same thing for the formula. Long story short, I’m not too fond of it. I will use this occasionally, but it really disappointed me. I was expecting a gorgeous polish with a dreamy formula, I guess… Maybe I should have applied even more carefully.
Anyway, I stamped the nails using the chrome polish I last mentioned. Although it was very good for stamping, opacity-wise, it’s so slow drying that it smudged when I stamped. Do you know what I mean? Other polishes are most of the time already tacky when delivered on the stamp, and they don’t smudge, but this one did. I had to remove 7 nails and re-do them. I guess I’ll let it wait a bit before stamping the next time I use it.
Here is another simple mani using konad plate m54:

And finally, here is the award BabyD, Danica, gildedangel, kelsealaurel and kelliegonzo tagged me, thank you guys! If I’m missing out anybody, I’m sorry! My head was so busy in the last few days =/

7 Facts About Me

  • I have never been a girly-girl. My nails are the only thing extravagant about me. I never had dolls, I played with teddys and stuffed animals. I don’t own any high-heels, clutches, low-cut tops, etc. I run around wearing a T-Shirt, jeans and chucks most of the time =)
  • I met my boyfriend on sheer coincidence, and we were together in less then 24 hours. He was living in another city, I didn’t even want to go to that place the day before, and me and my parents had a little row. I gave in, sulking. =) The funny thing is, I never believed in love at first sight before I met him.
  • I love console games. I own Wii, DS and PS3, with 20, 34 and 7 games respectively. I was a game collector before I started collecting polishes. This hobby is more economic, for sure =) Guys somehow don’t believe I can like console games. Huh?
  • I love being at home. I can entertain myself endlessly at home =) I always invent stuff to do, I re-read my books, I play games, read blogs, do my nails, talk to myself and think about tutorials&videos. The only thing I can’t do is study. I was a very good student until college, but now I just want to be over with it. =/
  • I’ve always wanted to be a doctor. Due to some strategic mistakes, I couldn’t study medicine. Although I’m kinda glad I didn’t, I still have a thing for medicine. I love to watch House MD =)
  • I wish I had a cat. If my parents allowed, I would rescue a cat from the street or fostercare right away. I have a special bond with cats, I think I can understand their nature well =) Saying that, my boyfriend has a cat, and I’m extremely jealous of her! How stupid is that???
  • I hate getting wet. I feel like I will never dry properly again. Especially in winter. =/ Not fun.

I’m tagging everyone on my blogroll who has not been tagged yet =) Sorry that I wasn’t very clear, but I’m so sleepy at the moment!

>

Edit: I’ve passed the 50 followers mark this week, thanks to anyone who takes time and reads my blog =) I truly appreciate your fellowship!

It seems I couldn’t keep my word =) I tried to mattify the Khrome manicure yesterday, which turned out to be a big no-no. Mattified Khrome looked dirty and unappealing on me, so I took it off. Today, I put on a local blue jelly polish with tiny silver and blue glitter. It reminds me of Essie’s Starry Starry Night, only less black-ish and with smaller glitter. In my opinion, this one could be a nice substitute. I personally like this polish very much, it’s very unique for my country’s standards, but unfortunately this one is discontinued and I could only grab two bottles =/
Afterwards, I stamped snowflakes on the nails using plate m59 and konad special polish in medium blue with a purplish pearl, whose name I don’t know. I would say “sky pearl”, but on the pictures, sky pearl looks more visible on darker colors, and mine is quite subtle. After stamping, I did matte french tips with China Glaze Matte Magic, and the ring fingers are matte with glossy tips. Ring fingers also have teardrop shaped rhinestones.

With Flash:

I hope you enjoy this mani as much as I do =) It reminds me of a very cold and dark winter night =)

>This is one of the rare times where I didn’t love a China Glaze polish as much as I expected. When I first saw pictures of Meteor Shower, I wanted it so badly that it literally hurt. (lol =) But it’s much thicker than I expected, and looks kinda lumpy on the nail. Maybe I applied badly, it’s nighttime here and maybe I could have applied it thinner and more even. Of course I love the color and the glitters, and would never toss it aside like I did with China Glaze Tantalize Me (ew!), it’s actually a lovely polish. Finally I decided to mattify it to make it even. I used China Glaze Matte Magic and I like the result, my nails look like sparkly dark blue stones.

It felt kinda lonely, and I stamped it using plate m59 and China Glaze Metallic Muse. Does anyone have tips on how to stamp the ribbon images well? They are kinda too big for my fingernails. The only option seems like stamping them diagonally, but that woud be when I have them longer.

Not too horrible. This is without another topcoat, the khromes look even better without one.
After yesterdays manicure brainstorming, I’m out of all ideas. I open my drawer and just stare at polishes, unable to decide what to wear. I love other people’s manicures and wanna copy some, is it considered as idea theft? =)
Btw, please vote on my poll regarding watermarks. Thanks =)
