>Review: Essie Spring 2011

>Today I have four polishes to show from the Essie Spring 2011 French Affair Collection. Honestly, when I first saw the collection, none of the colors really drew my interest. I thought they were a bit boring, recycled, plain, etc. But as time passed, I started to grow fond of the colors, the way they looked together, the theme, etc. And when I saw Nice Is Nice two weeks ago, oh my God, I knew I was sold at that moment.
I only cared for four of the six colors, I left out Sand Tropez and Kisses & Bisses. Sand Tropez felt too close to Playa Del Platinum, and I don’t really like sheer toppers like Kisses & Bisses. So in the end I was provided with four colors to review.

First is Coat Azure, the pop color of the collection. Essie tends to include a pop color like Pretty Edgy, Going Incognito, Mesmerize etc. along with more traditional shades. Coat Azure is a dusty blue with a very subtle, pearl-like shimmer to it. I really love it, it’s really calming, very springy and looks gorgeous. Like all swatches of the collection, I did 3 coats, although this one was good with 2. The consistency was great. Colorwise, I would call this one Tufts Blue.

I realized I don’t have many medium blues in my stash, so I compared this with Essie Lapis of Luxury.
Lapis of Luxury is a cornflower blue jelly, contains no shimmer and is warmer & lighter than Coat Azure.

Nice Is Nice is my favorite from this collection. It has a certain warmness that is not too much, it’s a very flattering polish, perfect for spring. You can get away with 2 coats, but 3 coats was perfection. The color can be described as Mauve.

I compared Nice Is Nice with other lilacs from my stash. Eyeko Lilac Polish doesn’t really belong, it’s darker than a pastel lilac. Essie Lilacism is a cooler version of Nice Is Nice, contains way too much blue to be a dupe. China Glaze Light As Air is much lighter & paler.

French Affair is a cool toned, pastel pink. I love mod pinks and this one had a nice application and unique look about it. First I thought I must have a dupe of this somewhere, but looks like I don’t. Pictured is 3 coats. I would call this Rich Brilliant Lavender.

I compared French Affair with Flor Mar Supershine #29 and China Glaze Something Sweet. Something Sweet is the lighter version of French Affair. #29 doesn’t contain as much blue, it looks neutral compared to the other two pinks.

Topless And Barefoot is an interesting shade. It’s a warm toned nude polish, yet it’s muted, like a very very light warm taupe. It’s very edgy once on the nail. Imagine a lighter version of Ecru. Like the rest, this was 3 coats.

I don’t have many similar polishes, so I compared this with her Essie sisters. Body Language is much more grey toned and is cooler. Miss Matched is a grey leaning, very pale pink. Just to give you an idea where T&B falls.

Altogether, it’s a lovely spring collection. I love how the polishes look so well together & how they match the French theme, they remind me of macarons =) The mini set includes the exact same colors I reviewed, you can get that one too if you don’t want to spend on full bottles.

Bugün sizlere Essie Spring 2011 French Affair Koleksiyonu’ndan dört oje tanıtacağım. Dürüst olmak gerekirse koleksiyonun ilk tanıtımları yapılırken şöyle bir bakmıştım da, neredeyse hiçbir oje ilgimi çekmemişti. Renklerin sıkıcı, daha önce yapılmış, özelliksiz renkler olduğunu düşünmüştüm. Ama aradan zaman geçtikçe gözüm alışmaya başladı, ilkbahar temasıyla çok uyumlu olduklarını düşünmeye başladım, bazı denemek istedim. İki hafta önce Nice Is Nice isimli ojeyi gözümle gördüğüm anda ise pes etmiştim bile =)
Yine de altı renkten sadece dört tanesini tercih ettim. Sand Tropez renk olarak Playa Del Platinum’a çok benziyordu, ve Kisses & Bisses tarzı ojeleri pek beğenmiyorum, bu yüzden onları bıraktım. Tanıtmam için dört renk verildi, şimdi onları göstereceğim.
Soldan sağa: Coat Azure, Nice Is Nice, French Affair, Topless & Barefoot.
Öncelikle Coat Azure, koleksiyonun öne çıkan rengi. Essie genellikle her koleksiyonda tek bir öne çıkan renk bulunduruyor. Pretty Edgy, Going Incognito, Mesmerize bunlardan birkaç tanesi. Diğer renkler ise daha alışıldık tarzda renkler oluyor. Coat Azure, solgun, orta koyulukta bir mavi. İnci gibi gözüken, aynı tonlarda mavi ışıltıya sahip. Bu renge bayıldım, deniz gibi gözüküyor, çok sakin ve rahatlatıcı bir renk. İlkbahar için çok güzel bir seçim olmuş. Bu koleksiyondaki tüm renkleri 3’er kat sürdüm, ama bunu 2 katla da opak hale getirebilirsiniz. Sürümü ise çok kolaydı.
Buna benzer tarzda renklerim pek yok, sanırım tercih etmiyorum. Essie Lapis of Luxury ile kıyaslarsak Lapis of Luxury’nin daha mora yakın ve açık bir renk olduğunu, jel yapıda olduğunu ve ışıltı içermediğini görebilirsiniz.
Nice Is Nice, bu koleksiyondaki favorim. Çok tatlı, sıcak tonda bir lila, bahar çiçekleri gibi. 2 katla opak olsa da 3 katta mükemmel oluyor, bu yüzden 3 kat sürdüm.
Nice Is Nice diğer lila ojelerle kıyaslandığında; Eyeko Lilac Polish daha koyu renk, Essie Lilacism daha soğuk tonda ve China Glaze Light As Air çok daha açık ve soluk olarak kendini belli ediyor.
French Affair soğuk tonlarda, pastel bir pembe. Bu tarz pembeleri çok seviyorum. Bu ojenin aynısının bende olduğunu düşünmüştüm, ama yokmuş. 3 kat sürdüm.
French Affair’i Flor Mar Supershine #29 ve China Glaze Something Sweet ile kıyasladığım zaman, Something Sweet’in daha açık renk olduğunu ve #29’un daha sıcak tonda olduğunu görüyorum.
Son olarak Topless And Barefoot ilginç bir oje. Sıcak tonlarda, ten rengi bir oje, ama aynı zamanda rengi canlı değil, soluk. 3 kat sürdüğümde tamamen opak oldu. Tırnakta çok şık duruyor. İddialı renkler sevmeyenlere tavsiye ederim.
Benim buna benzeyen ojem pek yok. Sanırım kolay kolay opak olmadığı için bu tarz renkler, tercih etmemişim. Ben de Essie Body Language ve Miss Matched ile kıyasladım. Body language daha soğuk ve griye çalıyor. Miss Matched ise çok çok açık, grimsi soluk bir pembe. Yaklaşık olarak araya bir yere denk geliyor Topless & Barefoot.
Genel olarak çok çok beğendiğim bir ilkbahar koleksiyonu oldu bu. Fransa temasıyla ise çok iyi gitmiş. Ojeler bana parfe, makaron gibi yiyecekleri anımsattı resmen =) Bu arada mini setin içinde bu tanıttığım renkler var, eğer tam boy almak istemiyorsanız o seti de tercih edebilirsiniz. >Review: OMG!!!

>I never thought this day would come. But here I am, with my complete set of OMG Collection =) How many times I kicked myself for not getting it when it was available! But isn’t it always like that? You keep saying: “I don’t know… Do I really need it?” while it’s in front of your eyes the whole time, and once it goes missing, you suddenly have to have it! All! That was my case, at least. It was so hard to track down, but finally it’s mine! I caved in and splurged to an eBay seller. A Turkish nail polish seller & a lovely friend stepped in and helped me get my hands on the whole collection. Without her, I would not be able to handle all the negotiations with the seller & the nervous wait for the post to arrive safely. The whole collection was a bit expensive, but it’s soo worth it! =))) I’m gonna be the happiest holo-loving-girl once the 4 Nfu-Oh holos arrive – my final order before the no-buy! =)

Now, on to the collection. It came out 3 years ago, or so I believe. At that time, good holographic polishes were easier to find, and not the unicorn pee they’re today. I guess it’s because of the raw material – good linear holographic polishes need expensive material, and this is what brands either avoid or just can’t find anymore. This line consists of 12 linear holos, the effect is subtle in the shadow but so in-your-face under the sun! They are subtler than the Nfu-Oh holos, but unlike them, these polishes are bold, bright colored polishes with a strong holographic effect. Plus, they’re great for konading! The holo particles are very dense, and they work excellent for stamping.
The collection is divided into two, as usual with China Glaze. First half is called 2BHOT and the second half is called 2BKEWL. Remember, when I’m calling some of these “medium-strength holos”, I mean they’re only subtle compared to the others from this collection. They’re all definitely holographic and mad rainbow-y under the sun!

2BHOT consists of 6 warm shades.

TTYL: Peach/salmon holo, very strong
FYI: Beige holo, very strong
GR8: Gold holo, medium-strength

I’ve heard that there are two different versions of BFF around, but this one is the original BFF. The other looks very much like TTYL from the warm set. I believe there’s been a mix-up, because unlike other brands, there have been no reported “less holo duds” of this collection.

All of them together. I’m so happy that I finally completed this collection. It’s a must have for every polish lover, so grab whatever you can while they’re still around! =)

Açıkçası bugünün geleceğine pek inanmıyordum. Ama işte oldu, demek ki insan azmedince her şey oluyormuş =) Sonunda China Glaze OMG koleksiyonunu tamamlamayı başarabildim =) Ahh, hala satıştayken on kere almaktan vazgeçtim diye o kadar çok kızdım ki kendime! O zamanlar sadece krem yapıda ojeleri almaya odaklıydım, çünkü buralarda bulamıyordum. Mevzuya uyandığımda artık çok geçti, ne var ne yoksa tükenmişti. Bulmak inanılmaz zor oldu. Rio55 olmasaydı bunun altından kalkamazdım. Bu konudan detaylı bir şekilde bahsedeceğim, yazının sonunu bekleyin.
Bu koleksiyon inanılmaz kıymete bindiği için bana biraz tuzluya geldi. Ama verdiğim her kuruşa değer. Bir de 4 tane Nfu-Oh ojem var yolda, onlar da gelsin çok mutlu olacağım ve bir süre oje falan almayacağım =)
Koleksiyondan bahsedecek olursak, China Glaze 2008 yılının başında çıkarmıştı bu koleksiyonu. O zamanlar holografik oje bulmak bugünkü gibi meşakatli değildi ve kapış kapış satılmıyordu. Sanırım holografik ojenin ana malzemesi olan holografik materyal oldukça pahalı, ya artık markalar bunu karşılayamıyor, ya da onlar da bulamıyor. Bu koleksiyon ise bugün kolay kolay bulamadığımız linear holografik ojelerden oluşuyor. Gölgede bu ojeleri görseniz ikinci kez bakmazsınız belki, ama güneş altında tam bir gökkuşağına dönüşüyorlar! Nfu-Oh ojeleri gibi dehşet holografik değiller, ama onlar kadar açık renk de değiller, renkler canlı, koyu, buna rağmen holografik etki her zaman mevcut. Ayrıca konad ile muhteşem oluyorlar. Holografik parçacıkların birbirine çok yakın olması, çok başarılı konad yapılabilmesini sağlıyor.
Koleksiyon her zamanki gibi iki parça halinde. İlk kısım olan 2BHOT sıcak renkleri, ikinci kısım olan 2BKEWL soğuk renkleri içeriyor. Bu arada bu ojelerden bazılarına “orta şiddette” dedim ama, sadece koleksiyondaki diğer bazı ojelere kıyasla öyleler. Aralarında en belirsiz olanı bile güneş altında dehşet gözüküyor =)

Bu koleksiyonu sonunda tamamlayabildiğim için çok mutluyum ve buradan Rio55‘e, yani Deniz, Pınar ve Irmak kardeşlere çok teşekkür ediyorum. Bugüne kadar onlardan çok fazla oje aldım, ve nasıl onlar hakkında daha detaylı yazmadığıma çok şaşırıyorum. Sanırım en güzel ojelerimi onlar sayesinde aldığım ve o ojelere henüz kıyamadığım için, bahsetmeye fırsatım olmamış. Evet tek mantıklı açıklaması bu =)
Rio55’le bundan 6 ay kadar önce tanıştık ve ilk alışverişimden beri yurtdışından kendi çabamla oje sipariş etmiyorum. Bu yüzden Rio55’in alışveriş ve kargo masrafı yaptığını, üzerine gümrükten ürün çektiklerini ve üstelik evinize kadar kargonuzu ödediğini düşünürseniz, 6 dolar değerindeki China Glaze ve 7 dolar değerindeki Zoya ojelerin 20 lira gibi bir fiyata satılmasının verilen emeği ancak karşıladığını görebilirsiniz. >Hello guys, sorry for the almost 2 week hiatus I took. Now I’m back and I’m going to be able to update regularly =)
How do you do? I experienced six breakages in the last week. SIX. One of the nails broke twice, five days apart =) One of them I discovered while I was one the phone with my boyfriend, and when I screamed “ARRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! One of the nails broke again! How? How???”, he said tentatively: “Umm, I think this hobby is killing you!” =D
Enough nonsense. Today I had a spring manicure in mind, and for this I used 3 China Glaze polishes, namely Peachy Keen, Agent Lavender and Lemon Fizz. Agent Lavender is one of my all time favorite polishes. (I should do a post about the all-time-faves soon!) It’s the palest, blue-leaning lavender, so smooth and creamy, far from chalky and perfect in two coats. Makes my nails look like porcelain. Love! I should buy a back-up bottle sometime.
I did the nails in skittle fashion, then drew hearts on them with a dotting tool. The heart idea is from Rebecca Likes Nails. Be sure to check out her blog, she’s really talented!

Nasılsınız? Benim geçtiğimiz hafta içinde altı kez tırnağım kırıldı. ALTI. Zaten insanda kaç tırnak var ki? En sonunda isyan ettim zaten. Bir tırnağım iki kere üst üste kırıldı. =) Birini de erkek arkadaşımla telefonda konuşurken farkettim, ben “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Yine tırnağım kırılmış! Nasıl? Nasıııl???” diye bağırınca, çekingen bir sesle: “Deniz… Sanırım bu hobi senin sonun olacak…” dedi =D
Bu kadar gevezelikten sonra bugünün manikürüne geçebilirim =) Aklımda ilkbaharı çağrıştıran bir manikür vardı, bunun için de 3 China Glaze ojesi kullandım, Peachy Keen, Agent Lavender ve Lemon Fizz. Agent Lavender tüm ojelerim arasında en sevdiklerimden biri. (Sanırım bu konuda bir yazı hazırlamalıyım!) Soluk, maviye çalan lavanta rengi, muhteşem bir yapısı var, son derece kremsi ve kesinlikle kireç gibi değil. İki katta opak oluyor ve tırnakları porselen gibi gösteriyor. Sanırım bir yedek almalıyım bu renkten.
Tırnaklarımı bu üç renkle boyadıktan sonra, üstlerine geri kalan iki renkle kalpler çizdim. Bunu yaparken dotting tool kullandım, puantiye yapmaya yarayan bir araç, toplu iğneyi silgiye saplayarak alternatif bir dotting tool elde edebilirsiniz =) Kalp fikri Rebecca Likes Nails blogundan, bence bir göz atın inanılmaz tatlı şeyler yapıyor! =D

>NOTD: Purple Polka Dots & Purple Holo

>Here is the manicure of the day, and also a manicure from a few days back. Today I’m supporting the manicure I saw in my dream last night. Inspiration seems to come in the most unexpected ways, LOL =D
For this manicure I used Flor Mar Supermatte m120, a dark purple creme; and China Glaze Light As Air, a very pale lilac. The stamping is also done with those two polishes, and plate m79.

I’m seriously lacking a purple holographic polish, and I decided to franken myself one. I’ve been tracking down the whole OMG Collection, and this should do till I get my hands on LOL and maybe another true purple holo in the future.
For this franken, I mixed blue and pink holographic polishes, then I darkened with some dark purple jelly. Although the holographic effect was somehow scattered, it’s definitely there and this is the best I can do with the limited holo supplies I have =)

The light has to be strong in these holographic polish pictures, because it’s very hard to catch the effect indoors, and I have to hold the light source in such an angle that creates shadows and makes the skin look yellow. I will definitely swatch these again when the sun will shine and days are longer! =)

Hem bugünün manikürünü, hem de birkaç gün öncesinden bir manikürü göstereceğim bugün size. Bugün tırnaklarımda dün gece rüyamda gördüğüm bir manikür var. (Evet bazen rüyama giriyorlar.) İlham ne kadar komik yerlerden geliyor, değil mi? =)
Burada kullandığım ojeler Flor Mar Supermatte m120, yani koyu mor; ve China Glaze Light As Air, soluk lila. Konad da bu iki oje ve m79 diskini kullanarak yapıldı.
Bu arada ciddi bir şekilde mor holografik oje eksikliği çekiyordum, böylece kendim karıştırmaya karar verdim. OMG koleksiyonunu tamamlamaya çalışıyorum, LOL ya da başka bir mor holografik oje elime geçene kadar bu beni idare eder sanırım.
Bu oje için mavi ve pembe holografik ojeler karıştırdım, koyulaştırmak için ise koyu mor jelimsi bir oje ekledim. Holografik etki doğal olarak biraz dağıldı ama sonuç olarak hala var ve elimdeki sınırlı kaynaklarla ancak bu kadar oluyor =)
Holografik ojeleri çektiğim resimlerde ışık çok güçlü olmak zorunda, çünkü bu etkiyi evin içinde makinayla yakalamak çok zor, bilen bilir. Işığın açısını ojenin kırabilmesi için eğik ayarlıyorum ve bu da ellerimi sarı gösteriyor. Şu güneş güzel yüzünü göstersin, günler uzasın, o zaman bu ojelerin resimlerini güneş altında çekeceğim =)

>Today’s mani was inspired by this one. She has done a lovely combination with nude, pink and salmon. I made my own version, using Golden Rose Paris #32 (index), Golden Rose Care & Strong #182 (thumb & pinky), Essie Van D’Go (ring) and China Glaze Spellbound (middle). I used the same colors on my right hand, too, only in different order. Left thumbnail was stamped in white using the ribbon design from m59. Left ring and right middle nails were stamped in white using the polka dot design from bm19.

Not exactly “all pink”. There is silver and orange and lilac and peach, but the cremes all lean towards pink (Van D’Go is actually pink in the bottle, only turns peach after applying topcoat) and I think that they look nice together.

Bugünün manikürü için buradan esinlendim. Benim versiyonumda, soldan sağa Golden Rose Care & Strong #182, Essie Van D’Go, China Glaze Spellbound ve Golden Rose Paris #32 var. Başparmağımdaki desen m59 diskinden, yüzük parmağımdaki ise bm19 diskinden. Sağ elimde de aynı renkleri sırayı değiştirerek kullandım.
Renklerin hiçbiri tam olarak pembe olmasa bile, hepsi pembeye dönük renkler. Mesela lila aslında pembeye dönük, Van D’Go ise zaten şişede pembe iken, cila sürünce şeftali rengine dönüşüyor. Bence birarada güzel duruyorlar =)

>NOTD: Happy Anniversary

>Today is the sixth anniversary of me and my boyfriend =) We first met each other six years ago on August 6th, and in less than 24 hours we were holding hands. It was love at first sight =) To me, he’s the nicest, the funniest, the most thoughtful guy on earth.
I love him and hope that we will spend the rest of our lives with each other =)
The manicure is very basic, I used Eyeko Lilac Polish as a base, then I stamped our initials in Flor Mar Supershine #14 (plate m17), finally used the pink heart rhinestone by Essence on my middle nail.

Hi everyone =) A short while ago Eyeko Cosmetics contacted me and offered to send 3 of their newest polishes for me to try out. So yesterday I received Nude Polish, Lilac Polish and Vintage Polish along with the cutest postcard ever =) Today I tried them all on, and I must say I’m impressed with the formula. All three polishes have a formula between jelly and creme, and they all have nice brushes, so they worked well for me. Without further ado, here are the bottle pics and swatches:

Nude Polish is a pretty nude color, leaning to peach, and with a very subtle shimmer. It looks closest to Deep Peach. I loved how clean my nails looked while wearing it. The formula was decent, sheer on the first coat but evened itself out on the second. I used 3 coats for the opacity I wanted.

Lilac Polish is a lilac creme, a bit lighter than the photo suggests, and it’s a medium lilac, leaning only slightly to the warm side. It can be described as Wisteria. This one was sans shimmer, and only took me 2 coats to be opaque. I own many lilacs, but no dupe of this color.

Vintage Polish was my favorite of the bunch. The color is a bit brighter in real life, but still has a dusty quality to itself. Eyeko describes this as a jade, but to me it has more blue than jade green. The closest color description would be Aquamarine, although Vintage Polish is a bit more toned down. This is a beautiful color, it’s refreshing and springy but also vintage at the same time, as the name suggests. It took me 2 coats to be opaque, but I did 3.
Finally, I’m wearing Vintage Polish with designs from m76 in konad pastel lilac.

I’m not 100% sure about the accuracy of the colors on the pictures, so I suggest you to also look up for other swatches before buying. You can buy Eyeko polishes on www.eyeko.com.

For those who are entering my giveaway: The 3 Clarie’s creme polishes I’ve included are a bit too thick. I suggest you to add polish thinner right away to achieve a better consistency =) Don’t blame me, Clarie’s makes nice jellies, but besides the pretty colors their cremes are kind of a fail =D

Today I have a cute and sweet spring manicure for you =) I’ve used China Glaze Mom’s Chiffon, 3 coats. This pink is very in-your-face, and as bright as it gets without being neon. I personally prefer pinks that are a bit less bright. Then I stamped over it using plate m79 and Konad special polish in pastel lilac.

>China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le is one of my favorite polishes ever. Creamy, perfect application, perfect color. I’m kinda weird, if I like something very very much, you won’t see me wearing that often. I guess I don’t want to become weary of them, and I tend to save them for better occasions =)

>This design is one of my favorites, yet I use it so rarely. This time I started off with one of my frankens, which I made of a medium warm red creme polish, some white creme polish and my own grey frankenpolish. It turned out to be this interesting dusty pink, like China Glaze Wild Mink. The franken is pretty opaque, and this is two coats. Then I stamped using plate m60 and special polish in Pastel Violet.

I have to tweak the pictures a bit, because my camera isn’t very friendly with me after the sun goes down =) Indoors it makes the colors look dull and too orange-y.
