>I tried the Ombre Manicure for the first time. Ombre means “shadow” in French, and here is how you do the shadows: You pick a color, and lighten/darken it with black and white polishes. Or better: You pick two colors, and mix them in different amounts to create a smooth transition. You need to come up with five different shades, and each shade is meant to go on a different nail.
For this manicure, I started with two frankens I made about a year ago:

First I painted my pinky nail with the lighter shade. Then I started mixing the lighter shade with the darker one on a plate using a clean brush, increasing the amount of the darker polish for every nail. Finally, I painted my thumbnail with the darker shade.

One thing you need to be careful about is to avoid mixing too hard, or you will create bubbles. If the mixed polish on the plate starts to dry, you can add a drop of nail polish thinner to fix it.
This will surely look more interesting if done with colors from different color families. I’d love to try again with purple-green or red-yellow =)

I'd also like to know what kind of brush you used to apply the mixed shades and how do you deal with the dilemma of the second coat. I guess by the time you have to do the second coat the polish on the palette is dried out. How did you do it?
